A New Prayer

How can we pray for balance?

Sometimes the right words just come to you, like this prayer came to me.

Holy Father, Holy Mother, Holy Spirit, Holy Son. In perfect love and perfect trust, together we are one. (Insert a prayerful request and repeat).

THOUGHT POLICE

WWJD?

What would Jesus do in a time like this? He would support the underdog, the common people. He would fight with us against the censorship, the attack on life and the sacred union between a man and a woman. He would fight against the fear-mongering in the media. He would urge us not to blindly react to whatever awful events we’re shown. He would fight division and help us unite again as a people.

He would be totally against cancel culture. He would rally us to celebrate our commonality, not hate our neighbors because they wave a flag that you personally don’t like. This isn’t about you folks! That is the great blunder of this era; complete and utter individualism at all cost. And guess what, it’s costing us a lot. I would even argue it’s costing our beautiful America it’s soul.

What Is Consciousness? | Theory: Human Mind Is Electromagnetic

https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a34496675/consciousness-electromagnetic-theory/

Yay, mainstream is finally catching up! I hope this topic continues to be explored. It is something I have thought deeply about.

One important fact is that what any new-ager or hippy calls “your aura” is actually your electromagnetic field. And anyone who’s had their aurora photographed has a picture of their electromagnetic field at that moment. It changes subtly all the time. And I’m sorry to burst the bubble but any “colors’ that show in your field do not have any character or spiritual meaning. They only represent the variations in intensity at whatever color scheme is used. I have direct experience in this from working in signal processing. Sorry folks.

But here’s the part that does matter. Did you know that the earth has an electromagnetic field? This field is very important. Without it we would all burn alive from space radiation. The Earth’s electromagnetic field can be thought of as a force field. And this force field protects all life on this beautiful planet.

So how is an electromagnetic field created? It is born from the rotation of a magnetic substance? In the case of the earth it is created by the rotation of the outer liquid metal core that rotates as the planet rotates. And if that rotation stops? You got it, we’re all toast.

So how is the human electromagnetic field created? We too have a rotation happening inside of us. It’s not as straight forward as the circular rotation of the earth but our heart pumps our blood around our circul-atory system. And our blood contains iron and other ferrous elements! We actually have two magnetic fields, one centered on the heart and one surrounding the “poles” head and feet of our body. And guess what, it also acts as a force field for us. That’s why we start to feel yucky if we develop circulation problems. Also, anything that emits radiation waves interfere and distort our own field and have an effect on our health. Think of the myriad of health problems associated with living near an electrical transformer station.

Okay, so what about consciousness? The referenced article proposes that consciousness is the electromagnetic field created by our brains. But the brain doesn’t rotate. It oscillates. Think of the common term “brain waves”. The neurons in our brain, that we’ve heard described as “firing” are actually oscillating. Think of a since wave moving up and down. All waves contain the energy of the force that created it. And energy is information. So as our brains process the events, information, of our moment to moment existence, it is creating an electromagnetic field. Pretty neat huh? I think we could even dare to say that the more information we process, the more activity we engage in, the more protected and healthier our brains are!

There is more I could go into concerning the effects of constructive and destructive waves and the influence of crystals and magnets but this post is already long. If you have any burning questions post them in the comments and I’ll answer them.

Keep oscillating!

“The day of celebration has arrived, but where is the Beloved?”

Dar ul Irfan – University of Sufism and Self

This post is an adaptation from a post from Dar Ul Irfan Inner Peace blog from June 4, 2019, with permission. The original content of the post is along the left and mine alongside on the right. In AP English class in the late 90’s my teacher was this awesome east/west philosopher and retired rock n’ roller. A common exercise was he would write Sufi quotes on the board and we would write for 20 minutes about whatever the words inspired. When I read the original post I was inspired to do something similar, now that I have lived 20+ years! I hope you enjoy, and if Mr. Dalton you can see this from up there, thank you.

The day of celebration has arrived, You have arrived within yourself

but where is the beloved? and there is nobody there.

Everywhere there is joy and happiness The heart cave was decorated with flowers

but has anyone seen the Beloved? but when you walked inside, hopeful

what joy then. you were alone.

how to rejoice then. I thought it would be different.

Union with the Beloved, Following the yearning in my soul

away from all there is. the forest paths converged

that day of sheer happiness. the pain felt worth it

How and where to seek the path to Beloved. Am I arrived too soon?

to the much awaited meeting Or too late?

what price to pay My ego was burned away

when will there be a resolve to this heartache by pain and loss and dissolution

to existence without separation The Beloved should be all there is left

without sorrow a soul adrift in the sea of remembering

that yearning for Beloved trusting the waters to take me home

where to acquire this sweet yearning pain. what have I forgotten?

Change the conversation…with yourself

If you stop to think about it, we talk to ourselves more than we talk to anyone else. We are our own angel or demon. Our own helper or hater. The way we talk to ourselves is an area of being human that is rarely brought up, even in counseling or mental health situations.

Is your self talk positive or negative? Do you encourage yourself to pull yourself up by your bootstraps as keep going? Or are you your own worst heckler?

I have been on a wild and traumatic personal ride for the past four years. At times I even considered talking myself out. Most of this time was hazy, in pain physically or emotionally, confused and anxious. In short, it’s been hell. Just this year, 2020, have I been able to pull myself up above water. I’ve had to change the way I talk to myself in order to make my situation better.

Like so many others, I was subjected to a series of unfortunate events that broke me. Many days, and weeks, and months I wanted to just give up and succumb to my awful fate of brain injury, cognitive disability and abandonment. Living in a loony bin started to sound nice.

But one fact kept me from giving up entirely: This is not the life that God wanted for me, and my life is not for me to forsake as it belongs to God.

So in my daily, or hourly, or minute by minute struggles I came up with a soothing phrase to encourage myself, “That’s okay, just keep going.”

“But I hate this and it hurts and I hate my existence and I don’t want to do this, I want to curl up and die.”

“That’s okay, just keep going.”

“But my life is in shambles and I started off so good and then things happened and now everything’s fucked, and I don’t know how I got here and I’m so lost and miserable.”

“That’s okay, just keep going.”

And after some months, maybe six or seven, I really have a very poor concept of time, I’ve been able to evolve my self talk as things have gotten better. Now what I say to myself is this:

“My brain is healed. My heart is filled with love and hope. My mind is clear and focussed. I’m happy to be alive.”

And I will continue to say this to myself as I’m waiting in line at the post office or trying to calm my brain down to go to sleep. And when the time is right I will naturally be inspired to make a new phrase.

I invite you with great compassion to play with some encouraging phrases for yourself. Or if it feels right simply use mine.

“It’s okay, just keep going.”

Right Now

There is never going to be a better time than right now.

Right now you have the power to make a different choice, or proceed with a different reaction action. And this choice will begin to disrupt the habitual and negative patterns in your life.

I am a smoking fiend and a professional procrastinator. I make my own smoking blends with hemp and a revolving combination of smokable herbs like mullein and lavender. Then obviously I roll my own cigarettes. This can take more time than I care to admit. And if I had a dollar for every time I decided to “Go roll one” instead of whatever task I need to do I’d be a wealthy woman. But this is not wealth or health. It is a habitual, detrimental choice that I make over and over again.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

I invite you to identify your habitual choices and see if you can mix it up and start to break free of your negative patterns.

Liberate yourself from yourself.

Möbious Escape Velocity

We go backwards, we go forwards. This has all happened before and will happen again. We exist in a Mobious loop of what is and what will never be. We run through halls of mirrors with our eyes closed, only to come out exactly where we started.

Have you ever been through some tough shit and when you get on the other side of you realize that you’re pretty much in the same boat you were X amount of years ago? That’s the Mobious Loop of your existence. When you see it with all eyes open it can be quite unnerving. How do we break this cycle learning the same lesson, in different ways, over and over again? We have to find an escape velocity. A force that overcomes the current amount of force. Think of a rocket slingshotting around the moon. And the rocket must approach the moon in a certain range of speed and angle. There are three subjects in this problem: You, your speed, the body of gravity (the moon).

The strangest part of this blog post is that I have never had this train of thought before. The philosophy is literally evolving as I type. What a trip. I would love so much to have coffee with Einstein and Fenyman.

Organic and instantaneous evolution.

Back to the problem of escape velocity. Let’s assume that the gravitational object is fixed and cannot change. What are the ways we can achieve escape velocity?

Brainstorm here… But really the only sensible thing to alter in this scenario is the speed and angle of the approach. Which, in the sphere of personal growth, may mean the amount of Motivation we have. It may also imply a change of angle, which we’ll think of as Perspective. You also call it your Beliefs. Ah, I see the formula starting to come together. Do you?

Now let’s assume that the angle and speed of the approach is fixed (hello super stubborn person). We now will consider the gravitational object. The moon. What could be your moon? Love? Religion? Family? Truth and Beauty? Your health? Whatever it is, it must be something that pulls you. That drives you. That makes your world worth living in.

Putting these two scenarios together we now have a formula.

X = (Your motivation + your Perspective) * your Moon. Where X is our escape velocity of our Mobious loop.

Whew. My noggin is about tapped out. I will leave it at that for now and leave you contemplate, heckle, or explore our new equation.

Stay wavy.

WWJD in the times of Black Lives Matter?

Jesus was a rabble-rouser, a muck-raker, the Johnny Cash of the Jews, enlightened by the East and fueled by injustice, avarice and hypocrisy.

In this day and age of Black Lives Matter and Covid-19, Jesus wouldn’t have enough fingers to point out all the distorted pieces that have twisted and mutated over the last 200 years. No dirty laundry would be safe from Jesus waving it in the air for all to see.

The message would be that everyone has aspects of their behavior, prospectives and dogmas that need improving, like the letters written to the heads of the Churches in the Book of Revelations…”this I still have against you…”

So if you really want to be a spectacular human being and a cream of the crop Christian ask yourself, “What would Jesus say in his letter to ME?” And if you’re really brazen try to step into Jesus’s shoes and actually write the letter. Maybe you can do this exercise with a trusted group of friends or church members. Perhaps like a Christ-Mass Yankee swap. Draw names and air out dirty laundry!

Only the Good die young

I have become my father. Quite figuratively. I spend nearly all of my time out of doors. He was always on his porch. Sitting on a bench carved by his deceased best friend. There he would sip his coffee and listen to the local rock n’ roll radio station. Or be listing to the Beatles, The White Album for the 1008th time and singing along. Come noon a satisfying crack, busting open the sweet bliss of the goddess of hops. And he would sip and sing, sip and read the newspaper, sip and pet his dogs, and sip and stare off into the forest, his eyes engaged in a projector reel of his own life somewhere in space between the trees. Many deep sighs came from that bench, and shaking heads of disbelief. He chooses to stay in the forest. Away from the world he no longer understands. I have be come my father.

I am enough.

I make metal jewelry. The picture above is an example. I have offered this ring on Etsy for four years. It gets ordered once in a while. But in the past three weeks I have seen a huge spike in my I am enough ring. And not just in the US. Today I am mailing one to Ireland.

Why has the phrase “I am enough” become so comforting and appealing in the last month?

I believe it has to do with being stuck with ourselves. With the continuing isolation and social distancing, the cancellation of every festival this summer and an overall decline in entertainment, we have to spend time with our Selfs more than ever.

You are enough.

You have the potential inside of you to attain every happiness. It’s a matter of playing musical chairs with your perspectives, values, the way you talk to yourself in your head, and how you internalize what others say and do.

Overall, we are far too sensitive. We take the whole world personally, and we shouldn’t. Someone who snaps at you or cuts you off in traffic giving you the finger is obviously having a bad day.

You have the power of free will and can choose to embody compassion instead of mirroring the negativity right back. And in that act you are typing the scales towards a better human experience for all of us.

Try it. And along the way I bet you’ll discover that you are enough.
